Hello, friends! I sure have missed you. It's hard to believe an entire summer has gone by, and we are now heading into the season of shorter days and cooler weather. Along with the change of season, our routines and focus change as well. Much of my days are now spent in the house cleaning and organizing for our soon-to-come winter&Emilyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12967901886618696506noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3303124316337181404.post-66324789348672158022015-09-01T08:00:00.000-04:002015-09-01T08:00:03.372-04:00A Pink Cake and Vintage Barbies
Our eldest and youngest daughters both celebrate their birthdays in August, one at the beginning of the month and the other at the end. Little #9 turned four, and I believe this was the most anticipated of all her birthdays. A few weeks ago when we went to the antiques barn, Little #9 was with us, and she spied a bag of vintage toy foods, Emilyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12967901886618696506noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3303124316337181404.post-89109346529757717672015-08-20T08:00:00.000-04:002015-08-20T08:00:06.655-04:00A Cool Rock in a Shady Spot
Yes, I must agree with Sid, our sleeping yellow cat and the other animals at Front Forty. This is exactly what kind of week it has been, the kind where you want to find a cool rock in a shady spot and take a nap. The high temperatures and humidity make for lazy-feeling days, Although I am not complaining (this summer loving mama never complains when summer Emilyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12967901886618696506noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3303124316337181404.post-57169473124721595772015-08-17T11:10:00.000-04:002015-08-17T11:10:53.862-04:00A Trip to the Antiques Barn
Good morning! What a beautiful August morning it is! The sun is shining; the air is warm; the insects are chirping and buzzing their August tune (August just has a distinct sound that no other month has). The day will be hot, but I am drinking in every last minute of these late summer days because autumn is near, which I was reminded of this morning as I sent two of the LittlesEmilyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12967901886618696506noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3303124316337181404.post-8645417819122363742015-08-07T13:56:00.000-04:002015-08-07T13:56:08.722-04:00Oh, so busy...
Happy Friday to you all! I am just quickly checking in to say, "hello", and let you know I have not forgotten you all. I'm sorry that I haven't been keeping up with posting. It's not for lack of wanting to; life has just kept me so very busy...a good busy, though.

In anticipation of our recent trip to the coast, Hubby mentioned wanting to bring comfy beach chairs. After taking a peek at what the local stores offered and not being entirely impressed with the prices or the options, I remembered a pair of vintage beach chairs that we had stored in our shed, waiting for me to find the time to refurbish them. Oh, the garden this time of year; it flourishes so! I think July is my favorite garden month with everything so lush and green. The potatoes are over Little #10's head and setting on little white blossoms. I hope the jungle of green is indicative of the amount of potatoes growing under the ground.

We recently spent a lovely day at the beach...the sand, the sun, the waves, the salty air, and even the seagulls...ahhhhhh...summer is good! I hope you are having a good week and are enjoying a bit of summer goodness wherever you may be.
Thank you for all the prayers and well-wishes for Little #6. They are truly appreciated.

Good morning! It feels like it has been forever since I last posted, and, wow, have I missed you all. Two years ago, in my first blog post, I expressed excitement over our very first apple blossoms, and, although we only harvested a handful of apples that year, we were over-joyed that our trees finally produced apples. This year the branches of our apples trees were covered in masses of delicate, highly aromatic, pink and white blossoms. We were delighted with the abundance of Emilyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12967901886618696506noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3303124316337181404.post-57024033034013732682015-05-29T09:53:00.003-04:002015-05-29T09:54:15.555-04:00This MomentI have been inspired by SouleMama to take a moment ...

I have such fond memories of the playhouse in the barn at my grandparent's house...my little mailbox (with a daily letter from Grandma in it), the braided rug and rocking chair, the spice tins (with small amounts of spices and herbs left in the bottom of each), oatmeal boxes, the doll cradle...oh, the memories! It's that time of year again (finally) when every possible moment is spent outside planting, pruning, fertilizing, mulching, and whatever else it takes to prepare our yard and gardens for the season of growing. We purchased four more apple trees ( McIntosh, Wolf River, Russet, and Honeycrisp) for our small, yet ever-growing orchard. Oh, it is so good to see spring's color again! The forsythia is in full bloom, and the daffodils are beginning to open and show their cheerful, sunny faces. The hyacinth, with its intoxicating aroma and breath-takingly beautiful blossoms, has pushed its way up through the hard packed soil. (Note to self: plant more hyacinth bulbs this fall). Lately knitting has taken a back seat to sewing. Working with fresh, springy fabrics, creating items to be worn and used during the warmer seasons simply seems more appealing at the moment. I go through such phases with my crafting...knitting in fall and winter and sewing in the spring...it's the same every year. I do, however, always have a knitting project on hand, Emilyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12967901886618696506noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3303124316337181404.post-77008934572841082852015-03-23T11:44:00.000-04:002015-03-23T11:44:27.771-04:00Never to Return to the Red Room
