Rain, Rain Go Away!

It has rained all week here at Front Forty Farm.  Today is especially wet and cold, only 47 degrees.  Brrrrr!  I had big plans for today...the bulk of my vegetable garden planting is usually done on Memorial Day Weekend.  Although, the lettuce, spinach, kale, radishes, peas and pole beans have already been planted, the tomatoes, bell peppers, brussel sprouts, parsnips, bush beans, cabbages, onion sets, potatoes, and corn are all eagerly waiting to be put in the ground.  It doesn't look like any of them will find their new home in the garden today because it is under water.
The marigolds are bravely trying to show their sunny faces, despite the heavy rain and cold temperatures.  The pansies, however, have seen better times and are in desperate need of the sun's warmth.
The lawn is full of puddles.

The animals have all taken cover in the barn...
...except for this silly goose.
The song birds aren't even coming out for lunch.
The gardening will have to wait...today is a sweater, wool socks, cup of tea, good book kind of day.
Well, the book  may have to wait until after the Littles are tucked into bed tonight, but I'm definitely going to indulge in the warmth of wool and hot tea.

See you next week.  I'm hoping to share some of the progress we are making on the new addition we are adding to our house...exciting things are happening.

Have a great Memorial Day!

  1. Oh, that's wet - looks familiar : ) although we've had sunshine this last week, just coupled with a cold northerly wind! Love the thrifted wooden bowl - bargain! : )
