The start of our weekend was a bit busy, with the older children visiting friends and attending a birthday party, running last minute errands, and dealing with frozen water pipes, but we woke Sunday morning to a blustery cold snowstorm and decided to stay home from church and avoid the slippery roads. We spent the entire day relaxing and recovering from our busy week. We enjoyed a delicious Hubby-made breakfast of blueberry pancakes and bacon, played outside, watched Little House on the Prairie Christmas movies and It's a Wonderful Life, huddled around the wood stove, lit candles, read books; and worked on Christmas projects. I love days like that, and it was just what we needed to start, what looks like, another busy week.
Before I leave you today, I would like to pay tribute to Miss Jane Austen. Today is her birthday (December 16, 1775), so I chose to share with you a few of my favorite quotes from this well-loved author.
“It isn't what we say or think that defines us, but what we do.”
Sense and Sensibility
“I must learn to be content with being happier than I deserve.”
Pride and Prejudice
“Laugh as much as you choose, but you will not laugh me out of my opinion.”
Pride and Prejudice
“If I loved you less, I might be able to talk about it more.”
Emma
And my absolute favorite...
“An unhappy alternative is before you, Elizabeth. From this day you must be a stranger to one of your parents. Your mother will never see you again if you do not marry Mr. Collins, and I will never see you again if you do.”
Pride and Prejudice
Thanks for stopping by my corner today. I always enjoy and look forward to your thoughtful comments. I hope you have a blessed week as we draw near to the birth of our Savior.

Beautiful pictures of the snow and it looks as if the animals are wondering what all this white stuff is...LOL. Bet the excitement is building for Christmas...reminds of my brothers and I peeking everywhere for hidden gifts. One year our parents outsmarted us by placing wrapped gifts in the trunk of the car.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.

Your last quote is one of my favorites, too! Love Mr. Bennett!! I adore Jane Austen's wit - it would have been an interesting thing to know her. Our snow is long gone, on to PNW fall/winter/spring mud and muck. Boo.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful images, just perfect for this time of year, and lovely quotes too.
ReplyDeleteLove the picture of the kids reading together - so warm and cozy. I didn't know you had goats - it seems everybody has a goat except me! (small pout) We had a similar weekend here, with good, slow, no running around, family time. I am looking forward to more of that this winter!
ReplyDeleteOh so cozy!!! Exactly how it should be this time of the year!!!!! : )
