Walk Through the Woods

Instead of sharing one "moment" this week, I thought it would be nice to share my daughter's photos of her walk through the woods after one of our snowstorms. Intrigued by the lichens found on the trees, she compared them to snowflakes, each having their own unique shape and design.  I love how she found beauty in something so common and overlooked.

Rabbit Tracks in the Snow

Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound’s the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend.

  1. That is just lovely! How old is your daughter? She took some very nice pictures. :-)

Here is my moment if you feel like stopping by... I just couldn't resist snapping away this morning... We don't have the prettiest view, but man do we have the prettiest colors! Have a great week-end!

    1. Thank you for the comment on my daughter's photos. She is 17, and aspires to go into photo journalism.

  3. How beautiful. I think that even if I grow to be an old lady of a hundred years of age that I will never cease to be excited at the sight of snow. There is something magical in those light white flakes. No wonder you wanted to share more than one photo.
Have a happy snowy cosy weekend

  6. Oh wow, so much snow! Beautiful photos. You've made me wish for a snow fall - we haven't had any yet this winter, just rain and yet more rain. I love the way the snow muffles sound and makes everything feel different. x

  7. Beautiful pictures, they felt so quiet and peaceful. And I loved the lichen ones especially, sometimes it takes a child to see these things.

  8. so missing this time of year. We do income taxes, so time just disappears from Jan-April. Like your winter walk pictures. We are lucky to grab a quick dog walk in the morning with the dog. Need a good Sunday through the woods walk like this to clear the head. There sure has been enough winter to do it!!
