"A Prayer in Spring"

My daughter snapped these photos of my Impatiens plant (from last summer) that is starting to re-bloom.

In honor of Robert Frost's birthday (March 26, 1874), Hubby sent me this poem a few days ago, a lovely picture of the beauty of His creation that I am so longing for these days (snow is falling as I type this).  I thought it would be nice to share it with you all in place of my "moment" this week.  Enjoy and have a great weekend!

A Prayer in Spring

Oh, give us pleasure in the flowers today;
And give us not to think so far away
As the uncertain harvest; keep us here
All simply in the springing of the year.

Oh, give us pleasure in the orchard white,
Like nothing else by day, like ghosts by night;
And make us happy in the happy bees,
The swarm dilating round the perfect trees.

And make us happy in the darting bird
That suddenly above the bees is heard,
The meteor that thrusts in with needle bill,
And off a blossom in mid air stands still.

For this is love and nothing else is love,
The which it is reserved for God above
To sanctify to what far ends He will,
But which it only needs that we fulfill.

Thank-you for the sweet comments the other day in response to the loss of  my sweet Molly. They were truly appreciated and were very comforting.  My heart goes out to those of you who have also recently lost a special pet.

  2. The writings of Robert Frost really make you stop and appreciate the moment. This 'Spring Prayer' is wonderful and how thoughtful of your husband to send it to you. So sorry to read about your 'Molly'. Sending you hugs and prayers,

  4. Hello! I noticed you paid a visit to my blog and I always try to do the same... I'm looking forward to reading about your home, family and projects (those bird-covered throw cushions are beautiful!)
    Lucky you, living where you do. If I could live anywhere in the world it would be New England. The closest I've come so far is a birthday trip to Boston and Nantucket...
    Anyway, nice to meet you!
