I apologize for my absence last week. After recently taking a few day off from blogging, I was looking forward to getting back to regular posting and sharing my spring "indoor" projects with you. Despite good intentions, circumstances kept me from coming to my computer last week. Most of our household, including Hubby and myself, came down with a nasty virus...sore throat, runny nose, aches, coughing. In spite of my earnest efforts to keep Little #6 healthy (her little lungs and immune system do not tolerate viruses of any sort), she was soon complaining of a runny nose and achy legs. It is always very intense (and often times scary) when she is sick. Her body, however, responded remarkably well to this bout of illness, and Little #6 is now on the road to recovery. For that I am very thankful. We took lots of vitamin C and homemade elderberry syrup along with many cups of hot Cold Care tea. Many of us are now on the mend, but a few are still down with it. I can't wait until the weather warms, and I can open the windows and doors, filling the house with the cleansing spring air.
Along with being sick, my sweet kitty, Molly, passed away last week. After nineteen years together, she and I were dear friends, and it was ever so difficult to say goodbye. I am still finding it difficult to go to bed at night. Without fail, Molly always waited for me to crawl under the covers so she could curl up with me. She wouldn't leave my side all night long. If I rolled over, she rolled with me. If I got up to go to the bathroom or check a baby, she followed me to the door and waited until I came back. I knit with her sitting on my chest, and I read with her sitting on my book. She stole a piece of my heart, and our home feels empty without her. I just couldn't find the courage to blog after losing her last week.
This is a new week, and I'm trying it again. I do hope that you are finding your week to be off to a good start.

Big hugs coming your way. So very sorry about your loss. I totally understand that empty feeling when you lose a pet.
ReplyDeleteHope everyone is feeling better soon. xo
So sorry for your loss of Molly. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteThinking of you at this difficult time.
ReplyDeleteHope you and your family are back too full health soon :)
Emily,
ReplyDeleteI'm so very sorry to hear about the loss of your sweet Molly. Loosing a beloved pet is the same as loosing a family member and it is okay to mourn their passing.
Glad to hear that the family is on the mend and that you are ready (maybe?) to resume blogging.
Prayers to you and your family,
Vanessa
Really feeling for you. So hard with any kind of loss but it sounds like you had 19 wonderful years with Molly, years to remember and cherish in your memory, and it also sounds like she had a perfect cat life, feeling loved and wanted.
ReplyDeleteHope the family all continue to fight off the bug, and give you lots of hugs too X
Oh Emily, my heart breaks for you! I know exactly what you are going through as last week we had to say good-bye to our almost fifteen year old dog, Albert. His passing totally wrecked me in ways that I wasn't expecting. The house is still too quiet and it's still very strange to walk from room to room, from place to place, without my constant companion at my heels. Big hugs to you, my friend. xo

take care,
Glad that you are getting better and especially that little number 6 has recovered so quickly. It's awful when little ones are unwell.
ReplyDeleteSorry too about Molly. I hope that things pick up for you. Keep well and happy.

I'm so sorry about the loss of your dear, sweet Molly. I, too, had a tortoise shell kitty that I adored. Her name was Abigail and she passed a couple of years ago. She was the sweetest girl. It's so sad that they live for such a short time. You were so lucky to have your Molly for as long as you did. They give us such unconditional love. I'm sending you a hug. xo

I am so sorry about the loss of Molly. 19 years is a long time to have pet by your side and they truly become part of the family. x
ReplyDeleteThey leave such a gaping hole when they go, these four pawed friends of ours. But the hounds we have said goodbye to here live on in our memories and our hearts ... they are never really more than a heartbeat away. Here's hoping you are finding comfort in similar thoughts x
ReplyDeleteThey are truly such a big part of our family and our heart. I am truly sad for your loss.
