Well, I came up with a little something to share with you while we wait. A few months ago when Hubby and I were cleaning out the attic space so it could be turned into a kid's bedroom, I found a vintage fan that I had picked up at a yard sale. I had plans for it, but I never got around to them, and the fan was brought to the attic. New Found Treasure! After wiping off the layers of dust and cobwebs, I found the fan to be in excellent condition for its age. I even plugged it in and found that it actually works like a charm. Now mind you, I have no intention of using this fan for its original intended use; its sole purpose is to add a punch of color and design to my new room, eye candy, if you will. Not to mention, the metal blades, open grill work, little hands and fingers....yikes...I can't even think about it.
So I pulled out my trusty sand paper and can of spray paint and went to work. This is the final result.
I am so happy with the way it turned out! I love the color and how the the red center pops against the new aqua blades. It is sitting in the corner of my new laundry room, patiently waiting for for the rest of the room to be complete, patiently waiting for that total room reveal that I keep talking about. Someday, my friends, someday...

The fun thing about painting an old fan is that it's not hard to change the color if you don't like or get bored with the color you started with. :)
ReplyDeleteHow cute! I love old fans, and the colors you picked are perfect!
ReplyDeleteLove this! I have the exact same fan and never thought to paint it! And love the color too!

I have a fan just like this one that just came out of "storage" (in the basement) to grace our screened porch! It has a sort of bronze finish that I kind'a like, but I have to admit...I've thought about painting it teal, and here's yours, so now I get to see what it'll look like if I take the plunge! It's beautiful!! ~Zuni
