Thrifted Treasure #9

My daughter and I have been traveling back and forth to the orthodontist the past couple of months in preparation of  her getting braces.  She finally had the first set put on this week, and there just happens to be a Goodwill in the town we travel to for the appointments.  As a treat, we did a little shopping.  My daughter found a dress, a maxi skirt, and a pair of earrings, and, of course, you know I couldn't wait to share my treasures with you.
First of all, some of you may remember my love for blue and white dishes, so it won't surprise you that this first little treasure found its way into my cart, a Teavana infuser tea mug (for only $.99) to replace the infuser mug that I broke a few weeks ago.  Isn't it charming?  It's so pretty that I'm almost afraid to use it.

The next item is a unique loaf pan I found for $1.99.  Although the glass is clear, it has a slight hint of blue to it and the daintiest embossing on the sides.  I have never seen such a pretty loaf pan...in fact, I would never think to call a loaf pan pretty, but this one really is.  I'm not sure of the age of it, but the glass is full of air bubbles, and I can actually feel some of them.  At first I thought they were something stuck to the inside surface of the pan, so I grabbed my steel wool and started scrubbing, only to find out they were air bubbles.

Next is a pair of salt and pepper shakers.  I love the crystal-like bottom with the silver plated top, so elegant. They are reminiscent of pieces that may grace the dining table of a character from a Jane Austen novel.  I love them, and even though they were a splurge at $4.99, I am thrilled with my purchase and am excited to add a bit of genteel refinement to our old farmhouse table.

The final item is something that I have been looking for since early summer, a frame that would fit the portion of  the Great Britain's Coasting Pilot, a survey of the sea-coast of England, that I found crammed on the bottom shelf of a thrift store earlier this year. I have my suspicions that this piece I found, matted and carefully wrapped in wax paper, is very, very old.  I'm considering having it professionally framed, but for now this thrifted frame works quite nicely.  I can't wait to see it hanging on our new library walls.
Thanks for stopping by my little corner and allowing me to share my thrifted items with you.  Finding treasure is always more fun when you can share your excitement with someone else.  I hope you will stop by again.

  3. Hi Emily,
Love your loaf pan ! !
I have a one ramekin in that same pattern. It has such a delicate design and a faint blue color that I just couldn't resist. Now I have keep returning to the Goodwill store to find more. (That's going be a tough assignment. ;) but I can handle it.)

  4. I love your thrifting posts. So fun! I love to thrift and to collect vintage glassware, myself. Your loaf pan is a Fire King Philbe. Many people search for this pattern, so I think you have quite a little treasure. Enjoy it with your beautiful family.
